Dr. Brett Dunlop, BASc, MD, FRCS(C)


Dr. Dunlop is an orthopaedic surgeon with degrees in both mechanical engineering and medicine. He has devoted a large part of his 30 year surgical career to adult back-related problems.

After his residency in Orthopaedics at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Dr. Dunlop spent a fellowship year in Spine and Trauma at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. He was then a McLaughlin Fellow in Spinal Surgery and Spinal Research at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and the Polytechniqe of Central London, in the UK

Dr. Dunlop has a continuing research interest in spine care and soft tissue trauma and has presented his work nationally and internationally.

As a former Residency Program Director of Orthopaedics at McMaster University, Dr. Dunlop is keenly interested in on-going education of medical professionals and patients.

Dr. Dunlop is currently a staff surgeon at St. Joseph's Healthcare in Hamilton and the former Head of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at McMaster University.

Dr. Laurie McLaughlin, PT, DSc, FCAMPT, CMAG, MCPA


Laurie graduated from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and received her Advanced Diploma of Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy from the Canadian Physiotherapy Association with Distinction.

She has developed and taught Continuing Education Manual Therapy Courses in Canada for over 20 years.

She is on faculty with the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT) faculty in the United States and more recently has taught courses in Europe and Australia.

Since 1992, she has been a National Examiner for physiotherapists specializing in orthopaedics for NAIOMT and in Canada serving as a Chief Examiner for Canada from 1999 to 2005.

Laurie completed a Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy at Andrews University in Michigan in 2007.

She is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor at McMaster University and a member of the HaNSA (Head and Neck, Shoulder, Arm) Research Team. Laurie is also a member of the Spine Expert Panel for the Ministry of Health and a member of the Canadian Spine Society.
