What is M+D ProHealth?
M+D ProHealth is a collaborative project of Dr. Brett Dunlop, BASc, MD, FRCS(C), a spine surgeon and former Head of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at McMaster University and Dr. Laurie McLaughlin, PT, DSc, FCAMPT, CMAG, MCPA, a specialist in orthopaedic physiotherapy.
M+D ProHealth will network with existing physiotherapists to teach surgical spine screening technique to provide a first level response to support community health professionals.
M+D ProHealth is developing real-time communication tools, using state-of-the-art electronic options to provide the same support to more under-serviced communities in the province.
M+D ProHealth has assembled an advisory panel to guide and evaluate the ongoing project.
M+D ProHealth is dedicated to improving the quality and availability of orthopaedic and spine care.
Advanced Practice Surgical Screening
M+D ProHealth offers a comprehensive surgical assessment which includes a detailed patient history, physical exam, and review and analysis of your diagnostic images (MRI, CT Scan, EDS etc). These services can be conducted in either Oakville or Hamilton clinics, and appointments are available within a couple of weeks. The services of an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist are not currently covered by OHIP, but we offer multiple payment methods and provide you with a detailed receipt that can be submitted to health insurance plans.
If deemed necessary, M+D ProHealth can order diagnostic imaging or refer you to other health professionals.
Advanced Practice Physiotherapy
If it is determined that surgery is not needed given your current condition, a referral for conservative management can be provided by Laurie McLaughlin. It is essential that we direct you to services that are appropriate and accessible to you, so we do our best to consider your needs and locale when making a referral. If desired, physiotherapy treatments can be booked with Laurie McLaughlin in either Hamilton or Oakville. Laurie has over 25 years experience as a practicing physiotherapist and teaches both nationally and internationally.
